Description
Hebrew SeniorLife, a Boston-based nonprofit affiliated with Harvard Medical School, is seeking a compassionate Transportation Driver to support older adults across our communities. In this 32-hour role, you will safely transport residents to medical appointments, therapies, programs, and outings while providing courteous, person-centered service. Responsibilities include assisting with mobility and safe transfers, operating wheelchair lifts, completing vehicle safety checks, and maintaining cleanliness and logs. You’ll work closely with an interdisciplinary care team in a respectful, mission-driven culture focused on dignity, inclusion, and innovation in aging.Safely transport seniors to medical appointments, programs, and errands
Assist residents with boarding, seating, and exiting vehicles using safe transfer techniques
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and document findings
Maintain vehicle cleanliness, fuel levels, and basic upkeep
Follow all traffic laws, safety procedures, and organizational protocols
Communicate courteously with residents, families, and staff regarding schedules
Report delays, incidents, or maintenance needs promptly
Support residents with mobility aids such as walkers and wheelchairs
Accurately follow daily transportation schedules and routing
Complete required logs and documentation for trips and passengers
Safe passenger transport
Defensive driving
Operation of wheelchair lifts and ramps
Vehicle safety inspections
Basic vehicle maintenance checks
Knowledge of traffic and DOT regulations
Schedule and route management
Mobility assistance and transfers
Documentation and log completion
Customer service in healthcare settings
