Position Summary
The PT Mini-Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from Summer Camp programs, field trips, and events. In addition to driving, this position ensures the nonprofit’s owned vehicle(s) is maintained in peak operating condition through regular safety inspections and routine maintenance. Hours for this position will be variable (see key responsibilities below), based on organization and vehicle need.

Through garden-centered science and peace education, Global Gardens cultivates self-directed learners and agents of community change. Our holistic model teaches students about science, peace, health, and the environment, while challenging them to be caring, engaged community members. As our students plan and cultivate their gardens, they grow the confidence and skills to create positive changes in their lives and the world around them. We currently offer a range of garden-based programming for 3,500 students (grades preK-6) and families at 13 Tulsa-area sites. Key Responsibilities
1. Student Transportation & Safety
Driving: Operate a multi-passenger vehicle (14 passenger mini-bus, Non-CDL) over designated routes while adhering to time schedules and traffic laws. For the month of June, hours per day will be approximately 4, Monday through Thursday.
Loading/Unloading: Assist students with boarding and exiting, including operating wheelchair lifts and securing adaptive equipment when necessary.
Field Trips: Plan routes for special educational excursions and extracurricular activities.
2. Maintenance & Compliance
Pre/Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct safety checks of tires, brakes, lights, fuel, and emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, first aid kits).
Routine Servicing: Maintain safety of assigned vehicle and coordinate scheduling of maintenance with Operations Director.
Cleanliness: Regularly sweep, wash, and sanitize the interior and exterior of vehicle.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance history.
Compliance: Ensure all safety documentation is current and accessible in the vehicle.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Licensing: Must possess a valid Drivers License.
Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of experience driving large vehicles preferred.
Safety Records: Clean driving record (no points) and ability to pass a criminal background check.
Skills: Strong communication skills; ability to relate well to students, parents, and staff.
Physical Demands
Must be able to sit for extended periods while driving.
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and physically assist children in emergencies.
Comfortable working in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
