Description
Marshfield Clinic – Archive is seeking a Patient Transporter to support Marshfield Children’s within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will safely transport pediatric patients, equipment, and supplies between units, ensuring comfort, privacy, and timely care. You’ll collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and support staff in a patient-first, compassionate environment. We offer a collaborative culture, education and wellness resources, and opportunities for growth within an integrated pediatric health system serving children and families across central and northern Wisconsin.Safely transport pediatric patients, families, and equipment between units, clinics, diagnostic areas, and surgical services using wheelchairs, stretchers, and pediatric transport devices.
Verify patient identity and follow safety, fall prevention, and infection control protocols during all transports.
Monitor patient comfort and condition during transport and promptly alert nursing or clinical staff of any concerns or changes.
Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and support staff to prioritize and complete transport requests and support patient flow.
Clean and disinfect wheelchairs, stretchers, and related transport equipment between uses and report maintenance needs.
Assist with transferring patients to and from beds, chairs, and transport devices using proper body mechanics and lifting techniques.
Maintain clear hallways, transport routes, and work areas to ensure a safe environment for patients, families, and staff.
Protect patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
Provide courteous, compassionate customer service to children and families, addressing questions and offering reassurance during transport.
Participate in required training and education on pediatric safety, infection prevention, customer service, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
Basic knowledge of infection control and hygiene practices
Operation of wheelchairs, stretchers, and pediatric transport equipment
Basic vital sign and patient distress awareness (non-clinical observation)
Use of communication devices (phones, pagers, transport software)
Time management and task prioritization in a busy clinical setting
Customer service and patient-family communication skills
HIPAA and confidentiality awareness
Basic computer or transport dispatch system navigation
Teamwork and collaboration in a healthcare environment

Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting, pushing, and prolonged walking/standing
