Description
Position Summary The Pharmacy Transporter performs non-patient care functions under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. Duties include but are not limited to: Telephone communication with nursing units, delivering medication to nursing units, filling floor stock orders and performing various computer functions relating to billing, printing labels and reports. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors Performs medication delivery on a scheduled basis Performs floor stock delivery Performs delivery of emergency medication kits as needed Pick up returned medication from unit and process accordingly Transfer medication upon patient relocation. Is accountable for all deliveries made Able to organize and care for equipment. Integrates safety, patient rights and infection control methods into work practice. Utilizes appropriate steps in the decision making process to include recognition and priority setting related to transport and departmental issues. Addresses issues with appropriate actions. Participates in Performance Improvement Initiatives Attends mandatory in-services. Adheres to all WPHC policies and procedures including dress code, code of conduct, customer service, attendance and submission of annual physical Collaborates and communicates with the health care team. Completes competency requirements. Attends staff meetings as required/ requested. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Education & Experience Requirements High school diploma/equivalency required Successful completion of departmental orientation Core Competencies Demonstrates ability to establish two-way communication by clearly defining expectations, communicating utilizing a variety of methods, actively listening to ideas and concerns and responding in an appropriate manner. Ability to act in a professional capacity and serve as a role model. Demonstrates ability to retains composure under stress Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills Exercises time management and organizational skills Ability to juggle multiple priorities at the same time Ability to use good judgment and has sound decision making skills Team player and willing to go above and beyond to get the job done Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion at all times Physical/Mental Demands/Requirements & Work Environment May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc. Must be physically able to ambulate or be stationary for extended periods of time. Must be physically able to move, remove and transport heavy objects more than 30lbs Primary Population Served Check appropriate box(s) below: Neonatal (birth - 28 days) Patients with exceptional communication needs Infant (29 days - less than 1 year) Patients with developmental delays Pediatric (1 - 12 years) Patients at end of life Adolescent (13 - 17 years) Patients under isolation precautions Adult (18 - 64 years) Patients with cultural needs Geriatric (> 65 years) •All populations Bariatric Patients with weight related comorbidities Non-patient care population The responsibilities and tasks outlined in this job description are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of White Plains Hospital. Salary Range: $39,000.00-$58,488.64 (based on full-time employment)
